Kidnapping in Nigeria between January and June 2021…

Mass kidnapping for ransom has gradually become the other of the day in Nigeria, as kidnap cases tend to be on the high between January and June 2021 and has left citizens in discomfort and disarray.

Findings show that the country has witnessed staggering 2944 kidnapping incident in the last six months that is from January to mid-june 2021

The highest number of kidnap cases 2944 was recorded in 2021, this was closely followed by 2860 recorded in 2020.

Statistical Review…

The situation was made worse due to alleged breakdown of security architecture in the North West, with a record of 1405 kidnap cases in 2021 and North Central with 942 cases still in 2021 respectively.

This findings cover’s Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones South West, South East, South-South, North Central, North East and North West and the Federal capital territory FCT, Abuja represent the reported cases.

In the last 21 year’s, the borrowing trend in the country by our leaders from the time of the military has left the country in high dept profile.

According to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the dept accumulated between 1999 and 2015 which had Obasanjo, Yar’Adua and Jonathan as leaders.

The lawmaker disclosed this in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the senate president, Ezrel Tabiowo when asked by Lawan to make clarifications on concerns raised by lawmaker over Nigeria’s dept profile.

“A huge part of Nigeria’s total dept profile roughly estimated at #33trillion naira were incurred by past administrations dating back to the military era”.

Majority of the loans being repaid presently by the president Muhammadu Buhari administration were one’s accumulated from the times of the military to those of the PDP administration under ex presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan between 1999 and 2015.
